I had an idea to walk from pub to pub in Cornwall for a wee adventure - in the winter. The weather can obviously be hit or miss, but I do like a good storm, and I have lots of cold, dark, wet experience, have the right gear, etc so figured I'd have a go. When I 'youtubed' "best pubs in Cornwall" - The Driftwood Spars came up. And for good reason! After three days of adventure in some pretty inclement weather, stepping into my room with it's fantastic stormy ocean views was just perfection. I started to wonder how I would leave. The bed was comfortable, with enough cushions and pillows to nestle down. Everything else was great too. I'd booked two nights and dinners in the 'top bar' (the loft in the old restaurant part, overlooking the rest of the restaurant). The food was great, breakfasts were whatever you wanted - all available. The staff were very accommodating too, working out my preferred beverage for my New Year's Eve toast. The location could not have been better. I certainly appreciated the proximity to the beach so I didn't have to walk far once I got there. Plus, the views. Loved every minute of my stay. Will definitely keep it on my 'places to go' list for future holidays.
Truly one of the greatest pubs I’ve been to. I’m a regular so I could extol the virtues of this place for hours - stunning building, brilliant staff, amazing beers. But I popped on here because I had the pleasure of having their Friday 2x fish & chips for £20 and it was amazing. The batter was divine, huge piece of fresh fish & the chips were spot on. Thanks Lou & team!
Range of beers excellent. Location fab. It was very busy so suggest booking. Staff were very nice and working their socks off but needed at least one more bar staff. Didn't dine but food looked very good but expensive.
We had lunch outside. Staff are helpful and food arrived quickly. Food was reasonably priced and really nice. Some drinks can be a bit pricey. The view is amazing. We were there for the open mic session, the atmosphere was buzzing. Though the car park is small and street parking is limited we were able to parked easily. Parking for up to 3 hours is reasonable, beyond that it gets expensive. This probably contributes to the availability of spaces. There is a discount up to £5.50 if you spend £10 in the pub, or free if you are staying there. However, the voucher we were given would not scan and we didn't really want to mess around getting someone to sort it. A short walk down a very steep road leads to the bay, where you can chill on the beach, swim or even go surfing. Despite my minor grumbles, this place is well worth a visit and deserving of 5 star rating.
Located in a very beautiful scenic area of St. Agnes, Cornwall. Dog-friendly pub with very good atmosphere. The menu is really impressive with great seafood options. Lovely service by the staff who are every friendly and helpful. Great parking space and they validate parking too.
