Situated just up from the Hove seafront, The Connaught is one of Brighton & Hove's best all-round pubs. We are part of the renowned Brakspear Brewery family and pride ourselves on our family-friendly atmosphere, delicious home-cooked food and great wine a
We have a gorgeous South-facing beer garden for those hot Summer days and a proper wood-burning stove inside for those frosty Winter nights.
We are child-friendly every day until 7pm when our licence states that we cannot have any under-18s in. There is a box of toys and books to keep kids happy and occupied and we have a special menu for little ones as well. All we ask is that they are well behaved and don’t run around the place where they might annoy our other patrons!
Dogs are more than welcome into our bar and garden but not in the restaurant – dogs must be kept on a lead, even in the garden.
We still host our mega-popular quiz night every Sunday night and it usually sells out so if you’d like to join us you’d be best to email us or give us a call on 01273 206578 to book your team a table. The quiz starts promptly at 8pm. And if you eat one of our roasts earlier in the evening we’ll pay your pound entry fee to the quiz!
We are available for venue hire if you have a big party or event you’re organising – contact us for a full price list and details of what we can provide.

We were a group of eight plus a dog and they happily put tables together in the bar area (dogs not allowed in the restaurant area) and looked after us very well. Difficult to recommend specific dishes as we all ate different ones which were all enjoyed.
We had a wonderful meal here on a Thursday night, which turned out to be pie night! The venison pie was amazing and steak and ale was also excellent. Choices of truffle and cheese mash, thick chips or even marmite thick chips which needs further investigation. Great service, and a good pint of Guinness to match the excellent grub. The normal ( not pie night specials ) menu also looks great with something for everyone!
Beautiful space and friendly staff. Food and portion sizes were perfect! I had the 3 meats roast and it didn’t disappoint!
Maybe I’ve been unlucky, but I find there are very few Sunday roasts you have in a pub that compare to one you make at home (unless you’re a terrible cook). The roasts at The Connaught, however, are incredible- we had lamb shanks and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth falling off the bone. Plus pigs in blankets made with full size sausages (my Nan would call these “elephants in duvets”), in a rich gravy- absolute heaven. Top it off with great pints in a beautiful beer garden, and there aren’t many better ways to spend a Sunday. Just be careful the seagulls don’t get your Yorkshires.
This is my favourite place to meet friends in this area. Great pub, easy to get to. The food is fantastic and well priced, there's a great range of wines and beers. Clean loos and a really pretty garden with snugs and tables And EVERY time I come the staff are totally lovely and helpful! And PIE THURSDAYS! Very highly recommended 💜💙
