The Best Western Compass Inn Hotel Is nestled away in the heart of the countryside, yet just 9 miles away from vibrant Bristol. On the edge of the Cotswolds, you'll have ample opportunity to live rural life to the full, without venturing too far away from the towns and cities that make this part of England so appealing! The hotel itself stands in 6 acres of beautiful grounds, so you'll find plenty of walks to enjoy just a few yards away from Reception! With access to both the M4 and M5 motorways, you can get out and about further afield if you prefer, or enjoy a convenient location for meetings and functions if you're organising an event.
I was in a party of 8 persons we all ordered at the same time, 6 ordered fried fish,1 sandwich and chip, I ordered ceasor salad. Eventually we got servied , the croutons my salad consided of over fried bread.the lettice was covered by a very thick mayo with bits of burnt bacon. The chicken and fish seemed OK. Pass forward to the drive home at 3 pm down the M5 and I spent the whole drive fighting the urge to vomit. Just before leaving I'd had an Apple Crumble to remove any taste. Nothing about the crumble except the custard was nice. As I arrive home in South Somerset I was able to get to the bathroom just in time vomiting the entire food in my stomach.
Food was very good but staff & service weren’t up to Best Western standards. 3 young waitresses worked like they’d been in post 1 day and needed some good training, some enthusiasm & some manners
Paid for upgraded executive room with a view 😡 had a view of car park tiny single bed duvet fell off onto the floor all night as far to small. Kettle took forever to boil and tea cups were tiny ( need mugs) Had to leave my breakfast 🍳 as absolutely taken over with 6 dogs barking and trying to get onto the chairs , it was dreadful , same thing happened while trying to have evening meal 😢 I suggest different dining area for people with dogs ….. All in all with room and dining experience was not at all pleasant, sadly won’t be returning which is a shame as we regularly visit my son locally…..
I love this pub, been coming for so many years now. The bar food is fab, get some thick cut cheezy chips and onion rings. They even look after our car club who visit on occasion through the Summer.
It's very old, It's clean, it's quirky. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The only thing that let our room down was the toilet button was broken and the shower screen was missing the rubber strip at the bottom of the glass, which resulted in the bathroom floor getting soaked. I would still stay there again.
