About us

The owners - Simon and Nicky George - bought The Bhurtpore in 1991. Since then, the pub has won numerous awards and it is recommended by Alastair Sawday, the AA, the Good Pub Guide and the Campaign for Real Ale.

The food is freshly-prepared, home-made and reasonably priced. Diners have the option of eating in the bar or the restaurant and food is served at lunchtime and in the evening.

With eleven real ales always available, a large selection of bottled beers and eight craft and continental beers on tap, the Bhurtpore attracts enthusiasts and connoisseurs from far and wide.

For customers who prefer cider, wine or something a little stronger, the Bhurtpore offers a huge choice of those too. The bar also stocks over twenty five different fruit juices.

As well as welcoming the passing traveller, The Bhurtpore is at the centre of the local community. It is home to the Wobbly Wheels cyclists and, once a month, a folk music session and meetings of the Vintage Sports Car Club and Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club

We had a great turn out this summer for our the Bhurtpore Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club show, one of the biggest shows of its type in the country. Not to mention a well attended ride for owners of antique cycles of all shapes and sizes.

Whether you arrive by car, bicycle, foot or train, The Bhurtpore is easy to find and a warm welcome is guaranteed.

Great selection of beers and ales. Home cooked fresh food. Occasionally a live band will be on. This is a great place if you can avoid some of the regulars, only kidding one of them is my brother in law.

Had a lovely lunch at this real ale pub. It has a good menu with lots of choice, lovely specials and a fab choice of curries. We sat surounded by the History of Bhurtpore and the pub. First class ale and food. Friendly staff. Has lots of seating both indoors and out. Will definitely return.

Been coming here for about 15 years now and it never fails to rank as one of my favourite pubs/restaurants. Firstly the choice of beer is fantastic, if you are a real ale drinker or a craft beer fan and enjoy German/Belgian beers then this place will be to your liking. The staff are lovely in there and the pub has a nice old world vibe to it. Lastly, the food is very and if you like curries then you have to try one from here as they are really good and a few good choices. Shoulder of lamb is amazing also. Worth a visit for drink or for food.
