Have stayed here a few times over the years. This however, has to be the worst. I know we are using the cheap/last minute bookings. However, you would expect the room to be warm. Even with the radiator being on max, the room was still cold. The bathroom was even worse. No heat in there at all. Was looking forward to the breakfast and sadly that was a disappointment too. I'm sure they have changed their supplier / contract for the kitchen. So, overall very poor. Will have to try somewhere else next time.
Just Finished a 4 night Coach trip to this excellent hotel. Food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Location was ideal Wetherspoons only a 5 min walk away. Lovely town with loads to see.
My wife and I have just attended a dance weekend with Arthur 'the umbrella man'. Very nice hotel, food was very good, reasonable priced bar meals and snacks. The wallop was fairly priced and well stocked. Staff very polite and friendly although on occasion service was a bit slow. The ballroom floor could do with being better cared for. Very sticky in certain areas Would be more than happy to return, had a great time Best wishes from Peter B
Stated the night with friends I would have given five stars across the board but though our room was lovely and large spacious with air con our friends room was almost the complete opposite, I appreciate that the hotel was full but when 2 couples book at the same time and in advance one would hope their rooms would be closer together not on different levels at each end of the hotel. That aside our room was lovely we sat in one of the wooden paneled rooms when we had our evening drinks which was made all the better with my husband being allowed to play the piano. Great experience, we would go again so long as I knew where in the hotel my room was going to be.
Our room was comfortable and immaculately clean, and the hotel is beautiful. The initial impression was not excellent - at check-in I was left with the vague feeling of being a bother, we had to wrestle our suitcases through the small revolving door (we later found out the doors will open up wider, but no one told us that or offered to help), and the room had some kind of air freshener that gave me an instant asthma attack. The rest of the stay was pleasant, however, and breakfast was good. We were a bit confused as to whether we just helped ourselves to the buffet or wait for someone to take an order (both - you order tea or coffee, but get food yourself), but the second morning went more smoothly.
