Booked a room and was informed that a code would be emailed to us to access keys as pub was temporarily closed. Arrived at 5.30pm no email had been received. Phoned, emailed, contacted via face book for ages, no response. Found somewhere else to stay 3 hours later. Eventually (next day) informed that a telephone number was on the door of the pub - across a pitch black pot holed car park, nowhere near the accommodation. Only redeeming feature was the promise of a quick refund.

Popped in for a quick pint and a meal after football with colleagues. Pints were great tasting and fresh, you could tell they cleaned the pipes regularly and made an effort to serve a good pint which is refreshing nowadays. Food was okay. I don't mind a bit of pink in my beef, whether it be steak or burgers etc, I think if anyone else would've had the burger I had, they have complained due to the pinkness of the burger. However, it was tasty, homemade and filling too. Chips were nice too. They did notify us that the kitchen had closed before we sat down to drink our pints, however, they kindly re-opened the kitchen for us (not at our request) and served good food. Would recommend to someone looking for a mid-priced meal and average pint cost around Shropshire. I know the Castle has just been taken over so I get that they're still potentially finding their feet so it is a good start, will be back in the future for sure.

Was looking forward tona family lunch and was sorely disappointed. Waited 5 minutes before we saw a member of staff. Were shown to a table in the restaurant which only had two other tables seated. We were asked straight away if we would like a drink but had to wait 10 minutes for the drinks to be served, there were no customers in the bar. We were asked what we would like to eat and when we asked for a menu we were told chicken or beef. That was the only options. There were no starters offered and when we asked if there were starters we were told we only do chicken or beef on a Sunday. Then someone else came over and said if you really want starters we can give you soup, prawns or pate. Some of us ordered starters. After quiet a while the waitress came back and said no beef as there was an issue with it and offered us ham instead, we all had chicken. Starters came and were just OK, nothing to sing about. Eventually plates cleared and mains came out. The food looked OK but not much culinary skill of how it was presented and somehow the chicken was tough my Uncle and Aunt could hardly cut there chicken and were struggling to chew it. Desserts were perfectly OK and presented well. The staff although very friendly and nice you could not distinguish them from the customer as no uniform and very casual. There was no attempt to upsell to us at any point. Having worked in the industry maybe I notice these things but would be happy to discuss further with the management should they wish.

Staying at the Culinary Retreat Inn was a feast for the senses. The inn's culinary offerings were a highlight, and each meal was a gastronomic delight. Our room was comfortable, and we could savor the enticing aromas wafting from the kitchen. The innkeepers' passion for food and local ingredients added an extra layer to our visit. This is a haven for food enthusiasts.

Well first impressions from the outside looked lovely and so was everyone there. However the food was not good. Which is a shame as I think it could be. Our starter which said hallumi sticks with salad and dip came served in a soup bowl with no salad or dip. I think the chef was lacking in experience as presentation was not good although my steak was cooked how I like. Our drinks was lovely and we were looked after. I think if they get the food sorted there it could be a great place.
