Our family stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of August. It is located not far from a road junction but in a quiet place. A convenient base for exploring the town, river Wye and surrounding area. The room is clean and spacious enough, the beds are comfortable, and the towels are freshly washed and soft. The breakfasts served were varied and satisfying. Owners, Steve and Georgina, were attentive, helpful and very kind to us. Highly recommended.

Unwelcoming, no bar or restaurant open, told by the owner to eat and drink elsewhere, rooms not very clean, nothing like what the website says. I would not recommend this hotel.

Castle Lodge is a well-run, affordable, comfortable hotel. The owners are experienced hoteliers and it really shows. Very highly recommended.

Well placed for exploring the surrounding area. Well appointed rooms, friendly staff and fabulous food in the bar. we stayed 4 nights and didn't bother eating anywhere else during our stay as what was served on the first night blew us away! Good breakfast too - really sets you up for a day's sightseeing.

Had a lovely short break at Castle Lodge. Good convenient location, just a 15 minute walk along the river to Ross itself. Nice room with good facilities and regularly replenished tea/coffee/biscuits. The only odd thing was that the bar was 'closed'/unmanned after about 8.30pm (there was nothing to say this would be the case in the details). Had to 'phone the hotel number from our room one evening to ask if we could have a drink! The owner appeared to do this and then rapidly disappeared and closed the door behind her! The following night the bar was in darkness at 8.30pm, despite there still being guests eating in the dining room. Went and bought our wine from the garage over the road instead! Other than this we enjoyed our stay in lovely Ross-on-Wye.
