About us

The Plough and Fleece is a beautiful country pub set in the delightful village of Horningsea, near to Cambridge. The timber framed public house and restaurant combines both a formal and informal atmosphere providing a fine dining room at the front and a traditional rustic bar with informal eating tables at the rear. Both bar and restaurant are complimented by a beautiful open fire or log burner that keeps our customers warm in winter. Summer days and warm evenings can be spent in the large garden with views over fields to the river Cam, where children and dogs are welcome. If you are looking for a place to come for a few pints of good beer, a light lunch or dinner or an evening meal, the Plough and Fleece will take care of you and provide a very warm welcome.

Excellent meal freshly cooked, nicely presented and served piping hot. We waited a while for our food, but were in no hurry and enjoyed the restaurant's lovely atmosphere. It was very busy, indicative that it is a very popular eating place.

Delicious food, went especially as they has a good gluten free selection, assured me it was safe for me and I was pleasantly surprised, lovely business owner and atmosphere, would definitely recommend and return

Excellent Christmas meal out in Plough and Fleece pub last night for our team Christmas works do. Nothing too much trouble for landlord John Cross from first enquiry email to last choc after dinner mint. Food was lovely apart from sprouts being a little too hard and Brie pot too over done. Excellent waitresses and bar staff too. Lovely atmosphere and we had a long rustic table beautifully set out in a quiet area of the pub. Will definitely be back with my own family . Well done all !

Nice meal, good welcome too! Friendly landlord and staff. The home made pie was lovely, as was the cheese platter . Unfortunately it was rather cold inside when we went. iffy house wine would be my only other negative point.

The Plough & Fleece went through a bad patch after the landlady left. We stopped coming. We tried again after some time, a change of chef and landlord later. It has become great again no more 'poncy' food. Efficient, really great pub food, great beer and extra lovely staff. What more can you want? We feel happy to bring our friends here again. We'll done, don't change it guys ✨
