A two roomed former Greene King pub, now a Free House, offers a warm welcome in comfortable surroundings with real fires in the winter. Walls are adorned with historic photographs and newspaper clippings of local and national interest with one wall being dedicated to the RAF. The pub serves many real ales and ciders and, in addition, there are more available in the separate rustic Bedlam Bar, open from Friday to Sunday. Amber Valley CAMRA’s Pub of the Year 2013 and 2014.

A nice selection of cask ales available from fairly local breweries and further afield. The pub is nice and clean and spacious with a charm about it. They have snack available like pork pie and cobs with usual crisps and nuts too. Will be visiting again.
My first visit whilst out dog walking, sat outside so unsure if dogs are allowed in, friendly service, good selection of beers. On first impressions, the pub is well presented, comfortable, and friendly .
Saturday 15.04.23: My friend (like me, a real ale aficionado) was visiting so, having told him what an excellent pub with great beers the BBH was, we set off. We arrived at 21.30 to be greeted with the unwelcome news that the pub would be closing at 22.00, although both Google and Facebook stated 23.00. Apparently the reason was a shortage of customers. (A two mile walk in total.) Disappointing, hence the two-star rating. Beer was good though.
It's a proper pub for proper beer lovers. Always a great selection and the Bedlam Bar (in the back) is a must visit when it's open (weekends) as you are served from the cask in near darkness. Proper Like.

The pub was recently refurbished in 2014 to a high standard offering facilities for all, wether you fancy popping in for a quick drink and a game of pool to a romantic meal for two or a birthday celebration here we have it all.
