We have used this pub for the past 25 years, it has had it's ups and downs. The best memories were of dear Ray Connolly and Eve ,who ran the place for ,I believe ,33 years . You always could rely on a good meal there. Since Ray passed on and so many people ran the pub ,it had its fair share of people who were 'going to get it back on it's feet'. Sadly ,no one really did that ,but recently the latest incumbent came and seemed o.k. We have actually eaten there a few times ,it was ,o.k. Having looked at reviews regarding Sunday lunches we decided to give it a try today. I really do not wish to be negative ,but going back to the reviews I have to disagree with them. Firstly ,'portions were large' ,no ,I thought they were child's portions. Content ,frozen veg. Granny someone's Yorkshire pud and roasties ,and mash potato that reminded me of little metallic people saying 'and then they smash them all to pieces'. The beef was nice. Asked for English mustard ,'sorry ,run out'. So disappointed ,nice pub .
We had an after Christmas last minute lunch here, the food was so good. A real pub with excellent food such a rarity, we will definitely be going here again
Came here today for a Sunday dinner as everywhere else local was fully booked and it was fantastic! The service was great, Sunday dinner was lovely, we all had three courses and finished everything on our plates! The staff couldn’t do enough for you. And such great value for money! We thoroughly had a lovely meal out. The only one tiny thing we would say is it would’ve been nice to have a little bit of background music playing. I know it’s not for everyone, and it’s not a criticism in any way, just some neutral feedback. Other than that it was all round fantastic!
Went here for a drink before going for food elsewhere, the drinks, the atmosphere, the landlords were that great that we stayed here for food aswell! So glad we did, the burgers were amazing!!! Cannot recommend enough if you are in the area!!
What an amazing find! The staff were so friendly from the minute you walk in, nothing was too much trouble. And the food was amazing, great portions and value for money. I wish I lived closer as would love this place as my local! Cannot recommend it enough! Thank you xx (The main was presented a lot nicer, I just forgot to take a photo before I started!!)
