About us

Within the rolling countryside of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies the quaint National Trust village of West Wycombe. The village boasts several fine examples of historic buildings, with most dating from 16th to 18th centuries. Formerly a coaching inn with its wonderful cobbled archway, the George & Dragon is one of these buildings and is situated at the heart of the village.

Booked a table for a Saturday lunch and received multiple email confirmations on the reservation. Arrived on the day and was told they didn't have the reservation in the book. Showed the hostess the email reservation confirmation and was then told that they have a new manager that doesn't know what he's doing and that the kitchen was closed anyway. Who closes a pub for Saturday afternoon lunch?

Dire. Oh dear me Our visit to the George & Dragon Hotel in West Wycombe was a complete and utter shambles. The young man behind the bar was apparently too young to serve beer so stood around looking completely embarrassed until another staff member appeared. The pub was not busy but to get a drink was almost impossible so we left. 4 customers walked out of an establishment because they were unable to spend their money. George and dragon you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself .

Booked 3 nights at the George and dragon after seeing pictures of the rooms on their website. However, upon arrival I soon realised that the room I’d been given was nothing like what was shown on their website. Cold and noisy because one of the sliding windows was missing, it sounded like I was sat on the M25. Spoke to one of the staff members who told me to simply turn the heating up to negate the cold. In the end I booked somewhere else nearby and was promised a full refund of £280 within 3 days. 8 days later and I’m yet to receive the refund or even a reply to my email. Avoid this place at all costs!

As a pub its very quiet during the week ...certainly every time I've been in . Staff are OK and like to help . Some locals are a bit loud and sweary which can be annoying. As a destination it's a take it or leave it pub. It's saving grace is it's location in West Wycombe and its surroundings attractions

This review is for the restaurant only. I just had to write a review! Our party of four visited for Sunday lunch yesterday. We had booked quickly before reading the reviews, so we’re quite nervous after reading all of the bad reviews about the service and food. I can honestly say that as soon as we set foot in the pub, the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Our table was clean and our waitress didn’t leave us hanging around. The food came quite quickly (three veggie roasts and one gammon roast) and was delicious!! Although, the portions could have been a bit bigger. Two of us asked for puddings, and again we’re not kept waiting. The staff were lovely! Food was great! I was nicely surprised after all of the bad reviews. Based on our experience, I would highly recommend visiting!!
