Don’t do it - we read the reviews and thought it can’t be that bad, it was. Rude staff, disinterested and such a low level Of service. We overhead another customer refer to the abrupt rude lady in charge as Grumpy McGrump - completely sums it Up. One morning at breakfast we watched a group of 4 come in, they waited for over 10 minutes for a staff member to arrive. The staff member Asked if they had a booking. They said yes and the staff member said to them. Oh well, we’ll have to sit you out in the Lounge room as we’re expecting people for breakfast. Funny thing about that was that the breakfast room only had three tables in use, and there was lots of room for them. It was 15 minutes till breakfast finished so I’m not sure where all the people were going to come from for breakfast and why this group were not able to be accommodated. The food is cold, mainly because they forget to turn on the Bain Marie, the scrambled eggs come from the kitchen in a plastic bowl and have been obviously sitting there for a long time as they are cold when poured out of the bowl and the orange juice and apple juice remained empty for the two days we were there. When we checked out there were two girls gossiping at the counter. One of them was Grumpy Mcgrump and not one of them said thank you or even acknowledged that we were there . Another couple did the same, so this was not a one off. The hotel is tired and the doors and frames are filthy. The hallway and rooms did not get vacuumed for the four days we were there and both soap dispensers in our bathroom, remained empty for four days, despite us asking for them to be filled. This is a disgrace and needs an undercover food inspector or hotel inspector to stay to give them a wake up call. There are other lovely accommodation options in the village and the pub up the road does amazing dinners. We made the mistake of eating at the hotel one night and got served a steak which could be described as looking like it had been run over. It cost over £20 and was absolutely appalling. There is nothing of quality at this hotel. Please save yourself the pain and stay somewhere else - faulty and fawlty completely sum it up.

The food was really bad, did not get what ordered, staff were rude, unhelpful and did not seem to know what they were doing. The bathroom was dirty, and so we're the lounge toilets - upon arrival, the bin was full of tissues covered in blood, the next day the bins were not emptied and still full of bloody tissues.. agree with previous review, if you have any self respect, do not stay in this place...

If you have any sense of self-respect, then avoid this hotel. The staff were abrupt, unhelpful, and disinterested in their paying customers - only the young girl at breakfast was nice, which is a minimum standard one should expect. The room was nice, but lacked furniture, given its size - a couple of small armchairs would have made it more comfortable. On the point of chairs, there was one by the dresser but it was also ripped and in need of replacement. The windows were drafty and full of condensation. The bar was also awful. Hardly anything to order and the barman was rude when spoken to. There were bits of bedding in the lounge area, bizarrely, and they were not removed for over a day. The two electric heaters in the lounge (yes! very countryside hotel-like) were not on and, therefore, the room was cold and not relaxing. On the first morning, a big group was checking out and they filled the bins outside the main hotel entrance with their rubbish. 24 hours later, the bins were still as they were left the day before (pictures attached). There was a sharp contrast to the other local businesses, which we visited. Everywhere else, people (staff) were polite, welcoming, and accommodating, so next time we go to Drymen - as this was our second visit - we will stay somewhere else. This is a shame, as the hotel could be amazing, given the location and the addition of the gym, pool, and spa

Had to change room and new room had no toilet paper but was clean and good. Breakfast was terrible. Tinned fruit and bacon, black pudding etc cold. No fried eggs. Shame because lovely hotel New owners have embarked on a programme of refurbishment. Not before time

From the outside you get a pleasing building that sits in its surroundings very well, ample parking. The reception staff were very welcoming & polite. The room decor was the downfall and very poorly done (see pics). The restaurant food was limited for vegetarians but well cooked & presented. The Hotel had good facilities and the cleanliness of all was indeed very good. I would definitely visit again but hopefully the choose someone with a little experience to carry out the decor.
