About us

Hello and welcome! We would really like to thank you all for sticking by us the past couple of years and are excited for what the future holds.

Debbie, Phil and the Brigadier team would like to say a massive THANK-YOU X

The Brigadier Gerard is a traditional country pub nestled near Horton Heath.

We have everything you would expect from a traditional country pub; open fires, wooden beams, modern contemporary furniture, colourful gardens, great cask ales and hearty homemade food served by friendly faces.

Our bustling bar offers an array of local cask and craft beers, along with world beers and premium lagers. We’ve got some cracking wines behind the bar, a strong selection of premium gins including Pink, Rhubarb and Bombay, as well as some other interesting and quality spirits. Our spacious restaurant has ample seating and you’re welcome to dine in the bar if you’d rather be closer to the action…

Our hearty homemade menu seems to pull folk from near and far…. locally sourced where we can, with our meat coming from the butchers just down the road! Wholesome pub classics can be found on our menu mixed with a number of interesting seasonal specials from our enthusiastic and creative crew in the kitchen. We use only fresh produce to ensure quality and freshness in every dish, and hopefully, give you a flavour of the local area.

Our location is perfect for enjoying some of the nearby great attractions as well as some of the stunning walks and scenery in the area. Well, there is nothing quite like a pub lunch after working up an appetite!

Southampton is just 15 minutes drive away, South Downs National Park 25 minutes and Portsmouth 40 minutes. We’re also just 10 minutes from the airport!

If you’d like to book a table, please call 02382512012 or email us at reservationsatbrigadiergerard@outlook.com and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

What can I say - the pub itself is lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The menu is great as it offers 2 different portion sizes for a number of dishes which is ideal for those with smaller or larger appetites. (I can recommend the lasagna!). Will definitely go back there if I'm in the area again.

Becoming our new local. We recently moved to fair oak. Came again tonight, 2nd time in 3 months. The staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful ( two young girls in the restaurant who served us) the staff even went out of their way to tell me about the gin i had. The food was stunning and came out so quickly. Big portions as well. Will definitely be our pub of choice from now on :)

This was my first visit and I had a lovely lunchtime meal here with a friend who has eaten here a number of times. The food was nicely presented and very tasty, with good portion sizes. Service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was good and the restaurant was quite busy. We arrived just before midday opening and there were quite a few spaces in the carpark, although some were underwater due to heavy rain. All in all a good visit and I'm sure we'll be back soon.

We had a large group for lunch and were catered for very well. Very attentive and quick service. I’ve never been here before but will definitely be returning. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was amazing.
