About us

A pub for quality time. A stopping place. Somewhere to slow down, unwind and sip wine with friends and family. Meet, eat, drink and chat.

So, the menu? Legendary pub classics, with delightfully fresh modern twists, naughty nibbles to mighty mains. An anthology of expertly crafted cask ales adorn the bar, juggling with expertly distilled gins, velvety reds, crisp whites and soft pinks.

Take Sundays slowly, with a resplendent spread brought to you from fields and farms across the country. Meats roasted low, perfectly paired with seasonal veg are at the heart of our ‘Slow Sundays’ which celebrates the flavours, family and friends with that long-standing tradition, the Sunday Roast.

But we’re not always about taking it slow. Less time to spare? Pop in for a week day lunch or a quiet moment with a pint or even a coffee. We are dog friendly in our bar areas only.

After all, this is your local, for time on your terms.

Mixed experience. Food was nice enough - though had to send one back and the beef was rather tough for the inadequate knives. Service was average, staff are very clearly struggling and that impacted the quality of service they provided. A smile and acknowledgment makes all the difference. We were grateful to be able to keep our little dog on the sofa during our visit (thank you), as the sofa-style seating layout is not conducive to having a dog - which is problematic in the dog friendly area of the pub. Usually a great pub but clearly had a bad day.

Second time going and it was a little belly experience, staff are friendly and accommodating. Went with the dog this time which was lovely because we were able to take him for a walk then eat. Good selection if drinks. Great food however I wish the burgers were bigger and there was their chicken with their signature burger in one. The wait for food wasn't long this time. Not always staff at the bar so have to wait. This was a week day lunch experience, my previous time was a lunch weekend visit and it was very busy, staff were very busy and the wait for food was very long. Atmosphere is always nice here and staff are polite, understanding and happy to help.

I went with a group of work mates. It was very nice and the food was good. The food was very good for the money. The food came fast and we had a great time.

Took my daughters to the gamston lock for a Christmas treat, booked a table online which was very easy. Service was great especially from Tracey and Ellie. Food was great too, especially the sweet potato and chickpea curry. Definitely would go again!

Popped in for tea & breakfast as my accommodation didn't have catering facilities. Due to the hot weather we ened up staying over in one of your rooms as there was a cancellation. Thank you team & especially a call out to Tracey at breakfast service 😊
