The Bowling Green is a well run, clean and friendly Public House. The staff are always friendly, efficient and exemplary in their standards. 🥇 The food is absolutely beautiful and, unlike so many places, you get good portions as well as beautiful presentation. There is a restaurant area inside the building, as well as a spacious seated outdoor area for when the weather is nice - you can eat anywhere you like on the premises. 🥩🥗 Beer? The drinks are stored correctly and at the right temperature. All the beers and Ciders are dispensed from immaculately clean pipes (I know this from witnessing the very thorough and regular cleaning). 🍾🍺 For me, a massive factor - and a 'dead giveaway' to any pub - is their toilets. The Bowling Green Toilets are always kept extremely clean and, yes, they smell nice. They always have well maintained, topped up soap & hand washing facilities - unlike 80% of everywhere else in our dirty society. 🚽 If you want a bit of class when visiting somewhere to eat and drink - but still wish to relax in a place which isn't crammed with stuck-up ponces, then The Bowling Green is definitely one such place. 🤗 31 January 2024 Sadly, and much to my disgust, The Bowling Green has committed the Cardinal Sin for any public bar. Twice now, I have entered the place for a drink and no-one has been in attendance behind the bar. The first occurrence caused me a seven minute wait before finally being served and the second time (this afternoon) I waited about the same amount of time - then walked out and called at a competitor pub - where staff were tending the bar. All I wanted to do was to spend some money on a couple of beers but it seems that this pub no longer needs customers. Even worse, I'm by no means alone in this frustration. 🤬

1. Positives, accomadated us re last minute booking,as we were on a tight time schedule . Lovely place & ran very efficiently with friendly staff. Had Sunday roast, potatoes & veg were lovely. 2. Negatives, the meat on both meals was very disappointing, it appears to all be pre carved & reheated for serving, the beef looked like a burnt piece of cardboard, turkey was dried out, pork was more like a couple of slices of bacon. There was no stuffing with the pork dinner & only a coin sized piece with the turkey. Whilst I appreciate all the hard work that goes into accommodating people, the meat was a real let down.

Our recent visit to The Bowling Green was exactly what we were looking for - a relaxed evening with some pub grub classics. We decided on a burger and a Caesar salad, which were both on point. Euan, our server, struck the right balance of attentiveness without being intrusive. He was friendly and ensured our orders were taken care of promptly. The burger was a classic delight - juicy and full of flavor. Paired with a side of crispy fries, it hit the spot. The Caesar salad, fresh and well-dressed, provided a nice contrast. While we only tried a couple of items from the menu, it's clear that The Bowling Green offers dependable pub fare. If you're in the mood for some comfort food in a relaxed setting, this is a good choice. Kudos to Euan for a pleasant evening.

Exceptional quality of food, service and hospitality. I was amazed by not only the number of dishes available on the menu for a small town pub but the quality, portion size and prices were also a pleasant surprise. The lamb dish was the best I've ever tasted! Karen and her staff provided an excellent service for our party of 13 on a busy Friday night. The Bowling Green is definitely a place I will be going back to!
