The sermon according to Mark & Naomi

• Thou shalt not serve up ready meals in 5 minutes flat.

• Thou shall offer good value food 7 days a week.

• Thou shalt not serve cheap meals with cheap ingredients.

• Thou shalt not create a sterile restaurant in what used to be a pub.

• Thou shall create a friendly and inviting atmosphere within a traditional 18th century inn.

• Thou shalt not serve battery acid disguised as wine.

• Thou shall support local suppliers and brewers of real ale.

• Thou shalt not keep Sunday Lunch under hot lamps for hours.

• Thou shall serve Sunday Lunch fresh and only at lunch time.

A cosy country pub with rooms in a quiet picturesque country village, easily accessible from A46. We had a comfortable nights stay with a great cooked breakfast and excellent food from their evening menu. The staff were friendly and the welcome as warm as the seats by the roaring fire. We are looking forward to returning in summer to be able to explore some more of the area.

Had a delicious Sunday lunch here today. Really lovely pub, welcoming and in a beautiful setting in a sleepy village. Our server Nora was very attentive to us all and helping with an alternative for our picky eating children. Food was beautiful, nice choice of starters and desserts and the Sunday roast was well presented and tasty. Wide variety of drinks, even having a choice of 0% cider for my Husband which is unusual in most places. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Our nearest local pub. Nice selection of ales. Had a meal there at lunch time. Nice and hot and good quality. Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. Comfortable seats. Bet there will be a rush for the tables next to the log burner. Have booked a table again, for an evening meal.

Had a terrific stay at The Boot and Shoe Inn. Stayed for two nights, including breakfast. Sharron and Chris were great and so were the rest of their team. A very friendly atmosphere. Our room was ideal. I actually slept better than I do at home in what was a very comfortable double bed. Shower was good too - nice and warm with a decent flow of water. We recently went vegan (just trying it out) and the vegan food we had there was excellent. The 'normal' menu looked great too. There was also a good selection of lagers in the bar - which you don't always find in a rural location. Breakfast was really good too - we had the vegan, but the Full English that my sister and brother-in-law had looked perfect. So, all in all - the hosts, room, facilities and food were all great. Thoroughly recommend it and will stay there again when we're in the area. Thanks for a lovely stay, Sharron. 😁

The first stop on our trip to Scotland, and one of the most beautiful and friendly. The atmosphere was warm in this pretty family pub, the meal was exquisite, my fish and chips delicious and we spent a very good evening washed down with a good Rioja. The very comfortable and quiet rooms allowed us to have a good night's sleep before hitting the road again after an excellent and hearty breakfast. My reading tablet, accidentally forgotten under my pillow, was very quickly posted by management, whom I thank. Only happiness during this first stage, and we wish the best to the “boot and shoe inn”
