Tucked away on a quiet side-street close to Borough Market and just a short walk from London Bridge station, The Boot & Flogger is the original Davy’s Wine Bar.
Opened in 1965 by John Davy trading as a Free Vintner – a privilege granted by the Worshipful Company of Vintners – it became the blueprint for wine bars across London.
Visitors to the Boot & Flogger enjoy classic British cooking. Look out for best quality meats, Donald Russell’s award winning steaks, British fish and daily specials; all polished off with an artisan cheese selection and traditional puds. Our wine list boasts an extensive range drawn from Davy’s Wine Merchants cellars in Greenwich including fine wines by the glass using Coravin.

This is a lovely venue for a traditional meal with a large wine list. It's very popular, they were turning away people without reservations on the Friday night in January that we were there. The food is good quality, but the menu is not extensive. That's in contrast to a wide selection of wines available. The building is lovely, and the ambience is traditional British with panelled walls and a brace of shotguns above the bar.
Very cool old pub. Nice place to meet up with friends or family. The food was OK but not great.
Chicken breast were okay tender but could have been seasoned better. Portion was good. The squash soup was only average, not a big fan of the sour taste. Love the chocolate brownie, very dense and rich😍 Service was really slow despite everything was pre-ordered (for group booking). But the staff were very nice and friendly. Love the private dining room they provided tho. Overall, the price doesn’t match with the quality of the food.
Only had wine but the place is an absolute gem and huge. Well worth a visit and they have an outside garden area at the back if you need nicotine. Show it some love & pay a visit. Just next to the renovated Redcross Paupers Cemetery (also worth a visit if you want to discover what a Winchester Goose was). 🥲
Ate here as a corporate evening meal out. Was fixed price per head meal but the options were delicious. I chose all the vegan options and they truly did not disappoint.
