The Blue ball is the place to stay if your, fishing, shooting, golf or just walking in Devon, The owners were fantastic ,and really made our stay special, also all of the staff, went the extra mile to make our stay run smoothly, with cooking us food quite late in the restaurant and breakfast early in the morning, And the menu and the quality of food is really, really good! Well presented, and tasty,oh and the sweets, and special deserts, u have to try! The rooms are good size , very well furnished, with comfy beds and all tea things. Definitely will make ur holiday a good one if u stay there! I highly recommend. G white Surrey

I have been here many times and always had a nice meal, the atmosphere is great, with the usual ambience of a classic British/Devon pub in a nice location with a car park that has ample spaces. They also allow dogs, which is a bonus as mine loves to come here and get lots of attention from the staff. Went with a party of seven and everyone enjoyed the food and service. My only slight gripe is that my burger was very slightly rubbery, still enjoyable, hence the 5 stars, plus it was close to Christmas so deliveries were probably slow, everything was really nice including the nice cold beer. Also the tiny pots of condiments were giving me slight anxiety having to keep asking for more to be brought out, it would be better if the entire bottles could be brought out instead of small ration pots, again, very slight gripe for an overall very enjoyable meal.

Visited with friends who had been before and had enjoyed their meals. This time none of us were very happy. Service was good to begin with but declined throughout out the meal. We all chose roasts and had to ask for the apple sauces which were on the menu with the pork. Very little gravy so needed more. Vegetables watery undercooked and tasteless and what appeared to be frozen roast potatoes. Cauliflower cheese side was minute and watery sauce eith no cheesy taste. One of us had the chicken which they did not enjoy and left half the meal. No one asked how our meal was at any time. Staff didn't seem to care. Desserts were lovely but by then the service had declined. Quite a pricey meal so disappointed with the quality and service. Saying that the pub was lovely inside with beams and an open fire in a countryside location.

We went for Sunday Lunch on the 22 Oct. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and one of the best Sunday lunches we've had. Perfectly cooked and I had the beef which melted in the mouth. Service was top class and when I came to pay, I had to ask to give a tip, which I like as I hate to be forced to tip if it's not good. They definitely deserved the tip. We liked the atmosphere so much, we decided to book a weekend stay in December and have the festive menu, which we are looking forward to.
