Stopped by here on a random trip to Soulby in the Lake District one evening on the way back to Lancashire with my family, including mother-in-law and 4 kids, and we were welcomed immediately. A table was made available for us, and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the restaurant, and the excellent and friendly service we received.

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening we decided to visit the Black Swan since it is a hotel and so would serve food (unlike a lot of pubs). The food was excellent. The dishes were well thought out in terms of complementary flavours, the quality was without fault, and the presentation spot on. Reasonable value too - I would have expected to pay more for food of that calibre. All the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous - especially since we hadn't booked, but just rocked up towards the end of service. Would thoroughly recommend (though do book to avoid disappointment, we were just incredibly lucky).

We just went for a lunch to celebrate. The lady serving us was the loveliest, cheerful and kind! Very delicious meal. Dog friendly place with a decent size parking.

Had probably the best meal of my life here. The menu was perfectly proportioned, and the dishes were unique and delicious - many compliments to the sous chef who skillfully prepared and presented our meal. The staff were so friendly and warm and went above and beyond, even giving us a mini guided tour of the beautiful building. All the rooms were decorated to an exceptional standard, and unique and quirky furnishings really added to the experience. 10/10 will be returning here and recommending to anyone who will listen!
