Came here last night for my husband's birthday. The orangery is lovely, beautiful décor and nice and warm, it feels like a different world to the pub area and a completely different vibe, it was kind of strange being able to see and hear into people sat at the bar as online and with their prices I thought this would have a very up market feel. The restaurant was basically empty apart from a couple of tables but we had pre booked anyway with no problems. Parking wise there was literally one space opposite as there's not many bays for cars and it's in a tiny village from what I could tell in the dark! They have an entirely separate gluten free menu which is refreshing and had several options which was part of why we booked. The chateaubriand was stunning, beautifully cooked, slightly under seasoned but there's seasoning on the table so not an issue. Both the potatoes and the fries were great and the butter beans were beautiful. Dessert wise they have several gluten free dessert options which we've found to be an issue elsewhere, they sadly were out of stock of the strudel after ordering it as that looked great on the menu, the sticky toffee pudding was fine, a large portion but not very exciting. They also have a gluten free beer available that's not your usual basic rubbish so that was good. The younger male and female staff were both fantastic, very polite, attentive, friendly and on it with the service. There was one slightly older guy there who didn't seem to know what was going on, we asked a question about the menu and he just told us he didn't know as it was his first Sunday and then we overheard someone else ask a question about the menu and he told them he didn't know the answer either. Just a bit bizarre. I was pretty disappointed that I hadn't been made aware at the time of booking online or the confirmation call I'd made a week or so after that on Sunday evenings it's a different menu to the a la carte menu and being honest we debated going elsewhere until the server confirmed the kitchen were able to do the chateaubriand and we were glad we stayed.

Really nice village pub! Beautiful fireplace and orangery too. Service was top notch, food was very tasty and overall pleasant evening. Nice wine selection too. Plenty of parking available 50m opposite in the village car park.

We were invited here for a meal with friends on Saturday evening (25th November). We had never been here before and so we were looking forward to our meal. First impressions were that it was a lovely venue, service was great and the food was amazing, if a little pricey. However, as the evening progressed, a table next to us began ‘expanding’ and the group sitting around it became increasingly noisy, excessively so. At this point we decided to leave and pay our bill. We complained about the noise and refused to pay the service charge because this had ruined an otherwise lovely evening. What came next would’ve been funny if it hadn’t been so shocking. The manager told us that these people were entitled to be a loud as they want to be! This is most definitely not how to deal with a complaint, we were then made to feel like the people spending the most money were entitled to ride roughshod over the rest of us! We’re paying a premium on the cost of a meal here and so you expect a nice environment and to have any complaints taken seriously. A business is judged on how it handles complaints and this was not how to deal with it. We won’t be going back!

Went for a Sunday lunch with friends. Definitely more restaurabt than pub, but very nice. We went there ages ago when the bar and dining experience was quite different, whereas now, the dining area has been massively extended out the back with easy access to the lovely garden. The roast pork belly was lovely. Not the cheapest Sunday lunch around buy worth it

This is a beautiful countryside pub with really great food on offer. We have eaten here more than once and have always been sat in the orangery, which is a bright and airy place to sit with a nice view of the open kitchen. The staff all seem really nice and the service we received was very good. It was slightly slow, but none of us were in a rush and it was a very nice place to sit while we waited anyway. The food is served in good portion sizes, and we think it is well worth the price charged. We have been before and will definitely come again.
