From our doorstep, you have unhindered access to Reading's transport networks and cultural hotspots like the mesmerising Reading Abbey ruins and the invigorating Thames Lido. Setting up camp at Malmaison Reading is the equivalent of holding the key to the city.
Where can I start from? Maybe from the fact that I will never go there again... So to start with, we booked a table for 8 for lunch a week ago. We went there this afternoon, the place was completely empty and no table was set up for us. Then: 1. One person ordered chicken and asked for sweet potatoes fries but the plate came with normal fries. The waiter didn't even know that they had no sweet potatoes. 2. The menu said that the Cajun chicken comes with smoky bacon, coleslaw, chips and beans. The plate came with only chips and beans. When we asked where is the bacon and coleslaw, the waiter didn't know and had to go to the kitchen and ask. She came back to say that they had no coleslaw and she brought a bowl with tiny pieces of cold bacon from the fridge. 3. A person ordered a gluten free burger. The waiter brought the burger, the person asked if it's gluten free and the waiter said "it should be". Then he went in the kitchen to make sure and of course it was not gluten free. So the person had to wait for the gluten free burger for longer while the rest of the 7 people were eating. 4. One of us ordered a small pizza. The waiter came to tell him that they were cooking a big pizza accidentally and they would bring him the big one but he would still pay for the small that he originally ordered. When the bill came, he was charged for a big pizza. What a disaster!!
Got a voucher for burgers and beers at this place. Very teenager vibes, the burgers were not bad (not good either), took a while to get the food and we ordered some drinks while waiting which was okay. The music is loud so it would not be a place to go for eating and having conversation but should be a good fun if you are looking for a dancing place. We had a nice time and experience but would not get the voucher for the burgers at the place again.
💥 Incredible food deal for £2.99 until 9pm (Sunday to Friday) - £4.99 with beer!!💥 Went today with a couple of friends and we couldn't believe such a cheap price for food in town centre. There is limited choice and the portions are medium/small but enough. For that price, 💯 recommended!!
We had a leftover experience voucher and decided to blow it on a cocktail masterclass seeing as we love our cocktails so much. The venue appears as definitely a younger person’s bar and we’re not! But that didn’t matter one bit and every single member of staff was upbeat and friendly and genuinely pleased to greet and serve us. Our mixologist master was Max and he was awesome! Extremely friendly, knowledgeable and all round great fun. He took us through the basics, taught us to mix our own drinks (which was huge fun!) and answered all our questions (including converting ml to oz!). We had an amazing time and I thoroughly recommend it - young and old!
Very interesting place. They actually have 2 bars. The main bar out front is pretty ordinary. But behind a curtained-off section lies a huge dance floor with a large bar that stretches the entire width of the dance floor. The dance floor was closed off when I visited but I heard from regular patrons that it gets crazy over the weekends. Lighting and ambiance were great to get a good buzz and you could still hear yourself in conversation.
