The Badger in Ponteland is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character.
Country pub dining doesn’t get any better. Discover real ales, real fires and pub-food as hearty and warming as the welcome, with beautifully kept beer gardens for soaking up the Great British summer. Each traditionally-run inn is as uniquely charming as the next - and some even have cosy B&B rooms, so you can really make yourself at home.
Built in the 1700's, The Badger has served a number of purposes before welcoming the locals of the hamlet of Street Houses. Originally a gentleman's residence the pub was later split into three houses, which were occupied through the years by a succession of farmers, yeomen and a cattle dealer, before eventually becoming The Badger.
We visited the Badger on a Monday evening before staying at the airport for an early morning flight. The service was superb: from the warm welcome to attentive, cheerful service, Milly and the team clearly enjoyed their roles. The meals were superb and far exceeded our expectations from our last visit several years ago. The quality of the food was brilliant… even the potatoes served with the sea bass tasted better than any roast potato. We’ll be back very soon! Special thanks to Chef Charlie for a fab meal!
We visited for lunch with our friends we did not have a reservation but we were allocated a table in a quiet corner by the fire it was lovely. Our server Anne couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly - what a lovely lady. The food was delicious well cooked and presented. Service is excellent. If you are looking for a cosy friendly place for a meal look no further than the Badger. Definitely returning and recommending to others. Thank you so much it rounded off our friends visit to perfection.
Never have I experienced such great service in a restaurant in my life which is rare for me considering my ‘extreme’ dietary requirements!! Objectively the best restaurant experience I’ve had in ages. Nothing was a problem for our server Paige who went above any beyond to ensure I was happy and everything was suitable for me after checking with Lee in the kitchen. Can’t thank them both enough for looking after me so well. Everybody I know will be hearing about how good it was!
Good food options. Dish wa larger than I expected but the menu does have lighter options too. Service was good and so was the decor. The triple cooked chips were much better than most I have come across.
Me and my dad were served by David, Ee had great service by him the atmosphere was 10/10 the food was up to spectacular standers and the restaurant itself is on another scale. 10/10 thank you David!!, also David kept a very kind and funny atmosphere whilst serving us and many others.
