About us

We are A 16th Century lovely Village pub.

We pride ourselves on our quality of food and service.

The original walls date back to early 1500,s and has always been a hostelry.

The two rooms were for both baking bread in the now bar area, and for horse shoeing in the restaurant area.

We have two beautiful, extremely large open log fires which are always ‘cosy’ in the colder months.

We also have an abundance of small rooms and can cater for up to 90 inside and a further 24 on our patio area.

The food was amazing , very overpriced and the table service was terrible ! 3 tables left as they waited so long and to get a drink you had to keep getting up to either find someone or go to the bar where the staff were stood around talking . As we had been recommended the pub we were excited as we don’t often get to go out without our children . I feel that they mad a mistake with our bill as by the time we got around to paying it we just wanted to leave and my husband never checks it he met me at the car and it cost us for two main meals and 2 drinks each £105 !! That was two steaks two glasses of wine and two orange juices. As you can imagine I was angry at my husband for not questioning it but also can understand why he wanted to leave as they just put you in a corner and forgot that we were even there , the three tables next to us also were making the joke they had forgotten about us Very disappointed.

Absolutely great food, really enjoyed the few nights working away to be dining here. Friendly staff. I suggested a pot of gravy to go with the chicken & stuffing light snack, beautiful gravy to accompany it and the chips are gorgeous. Steak and ale pie was lovely.

What a lovely pub! The roast dinner was smashing, I'm so full :D There are several different outdoor areas/rooms, a bouncy castle, and everyone was having a good time, relaxing and laughing.

Just over a week ago we had the best day celebrating our wedding here at this beautiful hidden gem. We honestly can’t thank Karen the two Rich’s and all the team that worked that day enough for giving us a perfect and memorable day. From the first time stepping foot into the pub, meeting Karen and the team I instantly knew it was going to be a place that would be special to us forever. The day was full of fun, laughter and delicious food (if you like a big portion you certainly won’t go hungry here ☺️) I can’t believe the day has been and gone 😭 we want to do it all again and we wouldn’t change a thing about it. So again we want to give the biggest thank you to all the amazing team at the Boars head for all the hard work you put in to make our day what it was! A truly unforgettable one 💗. Look forward to seeing you soon Amy Mitch & Ivy xxx

Had a lovely roast dinner there yesterday with my partner. Food was lovely, fantastic atmosphere. Staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, always staff around and nothing ever too much trouble. This was my 3rd visit and will definitely be back again.
