Management & staff were very cheerful and chatty. It was a very positive experience, with excellent speedy service. The food was better than the normal (not bad at all, usually) fayre at this chain, with toast freshly prepared to order, fresh coffee on the go and the rest of the buffet menu being refreshed constantly. I would highly recommend this venue for a great value, tasty breakfast 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My partner visited Applewood a couple of weeks ago with her friend. They both really enjoyed the carvery. So much so that my partner persuaded me to go. Pubs are not my normal places to visit for food, and to be honest, I can't remember the last time I ate in a pub. We visited on a weekday lunchtime so and there were plenty of tables to choose from. Once we had sat at our selected table, I went to the bar to order food and drinks. They had one person taking the orders and payments, as well as serving you your drinks. There were five people in front of me. Luckily, another member of staff came over to help with taking order to speed things up. I ordered a small and standard carvery and a medium and large red wine. The staff member who was serving me informed me it was cheaper to buy the bottle than it was to buy the two glasses of wine. In my opinion that is very good customer service. He brought the bottle and glasses to me at the bar and gave me the cork to the bottle so we could take the bottle away with us if we hadn't finished it. The wine was called Big Earl, and it was very nice. We would both definitely have that wine again. We both had Turkey and the Beef from the carvery. Both were very good. However, you do not get a lot. Based on the price we paid, I suppose we can't really complain. There are plenty of potatoes and veggies that were cooked for us just right. They weren't too hard and not too soft. Different gravies and sauces to finish off the meal were very nice. The place was clean and the staff we interacted with were very polite and friendly. They also take the Blue Light Card. We will visit again and probably try food from the menu next time.

Come here whenever we are passing through within 10 miles or so of any detour. Always love the selection of vegetables and different styles of potatoes available. Always greeted by cheerful staff. They are very generous with their servings of meats on the carvery. Their cake away selection is also extremely tempting but as I have a slight intolerance I have to abstain as I don't like the reaction my body decides to do. This is by far the best carvery place and I have been to other in the same chain too. Apologies about my plate, I was very hungry so loaded it up😂

The meal was great. Service was good, but what repeatedly let's the Applewood down is the deserts. Now that it's under new management, I can't fault anything.
