Dating back to the late 18th-century, but with a late 19th-century frontage, this Grade II listed mid-terrace pub is close to the main shopping area and bus terminus.
Large single-room, with comfortable lounge bar at front and dance floor towards rear. Lively town local with good 'craich'. Said to have 3 ghosts, but no recently recorded sightings! Karaoke Friday & Saturday evenings. No car park, but town centre public car parks nearby.
It is a great place to finish the night off, they also have a great section of beers and lagers.
The atmosphere is pretty nice, feels like a traditional British pub. Have never had any issues until today. We were kicked out after someone I was with had finished his drink as neither of us remaining (three of us in total) had bought a drink. We had only been in for just shy of 15 minutes. Told to leave as it "isn't a youth group". Not returning, which is a crying shame as I've had some wonderful nights out here.
Decent pint, good jukebox, good atmosphere. Day times are quiet, Friday and Saturday nights are very busy.
Great atmosphere and excellent staff well worth visiting Great pub
Visited here yesterday on the spur of the moment. It wasnt busy at all, which was nice for us. The few people that were here was very happy, bubbly and merry. Loved the 80's music that was playing on the jukebox. The drinks were great and i will be happy to recommend and visit here again.

This half-timbered end-terrace pub is one of the oldest hostelries in the town; the building dates back to mid-17th-century and was originally a prison.
