About us

The Achness lies in picturesque countryside on the banks of the river Cassley at Rosehall. The area is famed for salmon fishing however there is a lot more to offer. Walking, cycling, pony trekking, golf, stalking and fishing or just the magnificent array of fauna and flora and the highland air brings on a sense of peace and tranquillity that makes your stay a memorable one.

In the summer months the countryside can be viewed from our sun lounge and when the days become shorter you can warm your toes next to an open fire, whatever you plan to do the Achness has a warm and welcome feel.

Really nice bar very friendly people loved it. Had food on the second visit the fish and chips were so good so so tasty. If you are ever in the area pop in the staff are so lovely and friendly especially Heather,Sam and the owner Patrick and all the locals are really friendly.

Stopped off on our way back to our holiday cottage, luckily we were able to call and book a reservation before arrival. We were a wee bit early but not a problem, piping hot food, very tasty, very happy, good value.

Couldn’t recommend them more. Really friendly and helpful. Our car broke down and they provided us with a great place to stay and couldn’t have done more to help with arranging taxis etc. Would highly recommend.

Lovely quiet restaurant in hills of Sutherland. Looks slightly dated and tired on outside and restaurant interior looks a little like someone's house. The food is the most important part though, and it was very good. Very nice classic bar-style food and very nice and friendly staff. Considering at the time they were short-staffed, we enjoyed our meal at Achness.

I cannot thank the staff at the Achness hotel enough for there warm welcome. Myself and a friend where travelling across Scotland and our accommodation for the night fell through last minute leaving us in Bonar Bridge at 9pm with nowhere to go but the staff at Achness had a great room for us and even offered us food and a drink on arrival, put simply the nicest staff and the easiest most human interaction I've ever had with any business never mind a Hotel, thanks again from myself John and my friend Hughie.
