Next to its sister establishments Mono, Stereo, The Old Hairdresser’s and The Flying Duck, and it’s new East-coast cousin Harmonium, The 78 is something of an odd one out.
It’s situated in Glasgow’s West End, for one thing – just off Argyle Street in the popular Finnieston neighbourhood.
With chunky wooden tables, an open kitchen hatch at one end of the room and an open fire at the other, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, as is the service. The bar and kitchen, like the other bars in its stable, are 100% vegan, and the food is delightfully done at prices that buck the trend for the area.
The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of choice both on tap and in the fridge. The bar is open ’til 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, while Sunday evenings are reserved for live jazz, the perfect way to wind down your weekend.

The mexican food is so so so tasty and it’s great to have authentic vegan Mexican food. Food and drinks were priced reasonably, along with a great selection available. The music was really good and meant the place had a good atmosphere. Staff were great too.
Love, love, loved it! Friendly service as always. The Vegan festive roast was THE BEST I've ever eaten ✨😋💯💖🎄 Grasshopper and mint oreo cheesecake was something very special indeed. My dad thoroughly enjoyed his strawberry cheesecake, which I have to say, was the best strawberry cheesecake we've ever enjoyed! Peace, love & light this Xmas Eve Xx
As a bonafide carnivore I was sceptical of an entirely vegan menu but I was blown away by the quality in flavour I experienced. Cauliflower wings were incredible. The texture was hearty and rich and the ranch sauce had tang and zing. Loaded fries were huge and had all the salt and spice you could hope for. I don’t think I’m converted but it’s now a great option if I want to be healthier or impress my vegan friends and family. A really homely vibe and one to try if you are looking for a different culinary experience from the norm
I'm in love with this vegan restaurant! My friends and I came here for dessert and I was amazed at how delicious the vegan brownies are ...... I think it's a difficult thing for any restaurant to try to make vegan brownies taste good. Next time I will come for a meal🥰
One of the first vegan places in Glasgow I have ever visited years ago. Haven't been for a while and decided to see how things are. Was not disappointed. Food is delicious and we got to enjoy some sunshine outside as well.
