1000 Trades is an independent neighbourhood bar and kitchen in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.
We are bringing new life to a listed building, celebrating and championing all forms of craft.
That starts with craft beer and natural wine, runs through kitchen residencies by food entrepreneurs, all to a soundtrack prepared in partnership with Birmingham’s music community. With the artwork of local artists showcased throughout the building.
1000 Trades has space available for community and private events. We are particularly keen to support activities consistent with our craft philosophy.

A smashing, warm, old fashioned pub with a lovely little eating area in the rear. I haven't tried the grub yet but if the food is as good as the Guinness, it would be darn good. A lovely room upstairs where they hold a wonderful life drawing class every Monday with the smashing teacher, Annie. I love it. Soph x
Had a private party for office Christmas party and it was excellent. Service beforehand from Sam was brilliant, catered for everything we asked for! Staff on the day were brilliant, attentive and quick on the bar. Food was lovely and everything was great value for money. Would 100% recommend for private functions and will definitely use again.
We were really excited to visit 1000 trades as we’ve read plenty of good reviews. On arrival there was no one to receive us and take us to a table. There was only one staff member behind the bar who advised we could just find a seat and order at the bar. We placed our order and found a table. The table was a little dirty and sticky, no salt and pepper on table. Our order arrived relatively quick, however no one came to check how the food was and we had to try and flag someone down as one of our orders was incorrect. The menu is also misleading, it says all large dishes are served with couscous on the side but that was not received. The staff member told us it only came with the rice or chips that are on the plate (so why does the menu say all plates come with couscous?! We were expecting this as an extra). The Zatar chicken was very tasty and crispy, and the chips were also good. The lamb koftas were very tasteless. The salad did not have any dressing. And the amount of bread provided with the dips too small for 3 dips and 2 people. Overall this experience left us disappointed and unlikely to return as the prices here are not cheap and the staff did not seem to care about customers.
Came here for their Sunday roast. The food was AMAZING. Just disappointed about their service. We didn't come at a busy time, but it was almost impossible to get a server's attention, and the food took more than a half hour to arrive. Can't fault them with their food however 👌 atmosphere was also very cosy.
We called in for a drink this week and enjoyed a couple of pints. Friendly service, nice inside and a kitchen with rotating chefs and menus. They do hold music nights judging by the posters. Seating outside as well as in. I've only docked a star because the website menu doesn't include enough detail on their Sunday lunch options (my OH doesn't eat red meat). I did email to ask but waiting on a response. Will return and recommend you visit.
