31/03/2014 Why change a winning formula — I live local and have eaten in this pub many time. I am not one to complain and in fact I am quite laid back when food is presented in front of me. However, on this occasion I do feel the need to express my opinion. I decided on my usual favourite, Steak and Black Sheep Ale Pie. How disappointed I was to find that the gravy had been thinned out, not the usual thick gravy with flakes of meat added. That gravy used to be the best I had ever tasted and made it the great dish it used to be. The mushy peas were very runny and became part of the gravy when I poured it on the meat. And now the chips, nine of them in total, what have they done to this once great hearty dish? The positive thing about the dish is that the pie is still as good as it used to be, it's just a shame that they chose to change a legendary winning formula. The service was great, as usual and the bar staff and locals are friendly. I hope the management read this and restore this dish to it's former glory. View
