We randomly popped in starving on a Sunday for lunch after taking a wrong turn. Completely new to us so we delighted the food was excellent! The owners were very friendly and the service was great. Pleased they had 0% gin and beers. They had a dog friendly restaurant and I imagine in the summer the garden next to the river would be gorgeous! Top tip- there’s a nice walk along the river Allan to Staward Gorge close by. Park either side of the big stone bridge.

I really like dropping in here, especially if I'm out on a summer's evening's ride out on the motorbike. It's positioned in a lovely spot by the river and the staff are very chatty, welcoming and the beer garden is a good spot to chill out. Aiming to try their Sunday lunches next time, very popular I hear.

Called here at very short notice and the owner was very accommodating. The pub is lovely inside and so cozy. We attended on a Sunday and the roasts were spot on. Would highly recommend this place.

If you like gourmet pubs/fine dining, then this is more for you. The menu was limited, but there were a lot of specials on the board. Can't fault the quality of the food, but if you're after pub grub (bangers and mash, scampi and chips, etc.) then this isn't one for you. Additionally, I'd suggest that you book a table and don't just turn up.

We had an excellent stay at the Elks Head, Jennifer and all the staff work hard to ensure everything is just right. Our room had a gorgeous river view, the bed was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of various options. We had evening meals and again the food and choice was excellent. Jennifer and her staff ensured our stay happy and friendly.
