This newly done up pub is probably what would now be referred to as a 'gastropub', but having saaid that they still have six every well kept ales on tap which includes one guest (Hobgoblin at time of visit). Doom Bar was excellent and served in a 'proper' tankard.
Food is very good indeed, if at the top end of this particular writer's normal food budget. Although, they also seem to do a very nice looking set menu which offers a range of more affordable choices (the wife decided that she was being treated, however, when we visited...so A la Carte it was!).
Has a lovely looking garden to the rear. Raining when we went so couldn't really tell you anymore about that.
Service was friendly, efficient and relaxed. Dining rooms upstairs are definitely worth the journey to see.
All in all a lovely place and would recommend to anyone.
