The Balloch House in Loch Lomond is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine win
The Balloch House was built in the early 18th Century, when it was the place where ferries ran from across the River Leven. It became a hotel in the early 19th century since when The Balloch has had a number of famous visitors including; Hans Christian Anderson in 1847 and the Empress Eugenie, wife of Louis-Napolean Bonaparte's nephew in 1860. Our 11 bedroom Innkeeper's Lodge continues The Balloch House's tradition of welcoming travellers. It's our local charm that attracts local office staff and visitors, as well as diners and drinkers from Alexandria and nearby Erskine, Dumbarton and Helensburgh. We also welcome business and leisure travellers to enjoy some of the best bedrooms and accommodation on Loch Lomond.

The service was lovely! We arrived a bit too early for lunch so opted for some tasty lattes before 12. The lunch was superb! Actually couldn’t resist a sticky toffee so had a starter, main and dessert. Always a beautiful and homey atmosphere.
Got the carrot & coriander soup of the day and a mushroom starter. Soup had absolutely no taste at all. Smallest bowl of microwaved mushrooms ever.
18th century pub with great view of Loch Lomond, near the Balloch Castle and Park at the heart of city. Food was great, fresh but a bit costly. Great atmosphere and authentic Scottish decorations. Warm and cozy with a working fireplace. Welcoming attitude and great service from the staff is cherry on top.
Great atmosphere. Authentic decorations. Warm and cozy with a working fireplace. Best of all, very welcoming attitude and great service from the staff.
Our dinner at The Balloch House after visiting Loch Lamond was just perfect. From the comfy and cozy seating area to the very broad menu with lots of yummy food to the delightful service. It was actually one of our favorite meals during our UK trip! Make sure you get the garlic flatbread to start and save some room for desert. Limited parking is available behind the restaurant and we enjoyed a nice walk along the water before we ate.
